Front U-bolt upgrade to newer style.
First off the early '99 trucks require a square shaped u-bolt for the front springs. I believe this is due to the lower shock mount pad that is on top of the spring pack.
Could I take a newer (00-03/04) lower spring mount and use the newer round u-bolts??
I can't see where any difference is other than the shape of the pad. I realize the pad helps hold the spring pack and may have a different center bolt. So what are any other factors I may not be thinking about that may result in a failure of the u-bolt.
If you used a newer style mount that was designed for the rounded u-bolts you'd have to use the rounded u-bolts to get them to properly tighten down.......
