Body lift on F250 w/Diesel

Does anyone know why all of the body lift kits exclude Diesel engines before 1999? I would like to put a 2 inch lift on my 91 F250 with the 7.3 International, but havn't found any kits for it.
I can fab extra parts if need be, if anyone can tell me what the problems would be.
Jeremy

Because it costs too much and is too hard to lengthen the hoses. A body lift would get close to as expensive as a supension lift. PA has one for the new Dodge diesels, but I don't know what it costs. Probably a lot.

what hoses? you mean the intercooler pipes? pre 99's didnt have intercoolers, and his n/a diesel shouldnt be a problem at all, just buy one for a gasser

Being partial to Cummins diesels, I do know that there are extra modifications needed to lift a Dodge with a Cummins, be it hoses or other components. Thats why the new PA kit costs $340. I may have missspoken. I guess I got a little out of my knowledge pool.

I think it might be because the diesel v8 is wider, and the back of the head might hit the cab.. I know when I had a body lift on my f250 with 351w, it was real close.

ho is right.. it should work fine. The only problem with body lifting the post 99 diesels is the intercooloer.. so the earlier ones should fit just fine.

every truck ive done with a body lift lifts the body farther away from anything on the frame, and the motor??

Well, not mine . It had very little clearance between the firewall and the EGR tube on the back of the head. (like 3/16" of an inch). If there wasnt an egr tube, it would have been fine.

It seems like the firewall in the early 80s slopes down..

I know the diesel is a good bit wider (which would definately catch the firewall on my truck with a body lift, if the motor sat in the same place).

I may be way out of line here but, why not just take the easy way out and throw some add-a-leaf springs on there. Should give you 1-2 inches of leaf without the headache of having to match up all your parts and pieces i.e. fuel filler hoses, the possibility of you engine being too close to the firewall, etc. Shouldn't cost any more than a body lift as well.
Mike

p.s. just let me know if I am just blowing smoke out my exhaust pipe or not.

I would put some add-a-leaf springs on it, but it has the Dana 50 TTB. I've already lifted the front 1.5-2" with air shocks, and the alignment would probably suffer if I do any more, hence the body lift. I'll probably just get a kit for a gas engine ($78-110) and go from there.
