Carrier with what looks like a Flew Plate in it???
Gentlemen,
I too apart a 1992 F150 Rearend that has a tag of
S 836B 3 08 88 2E08.
On the bolt side (that holds the ring in) there seems to be a plate attached to those same bolts that looks like a Flew Plate (Starter Plate) that you'd mount on a Torque Converter for a Auto Tranny, has over 100 teeth on it.
Some time in that period Ford went to a speed-o pickup located in the rear housing, This may be what you're looking at.... haven't seen too many 8.8's."
It's the speed sensor exciter ring. They started putting them in for ABS in 1987, and, in 1992, they started using it do drive the (electronic)speedometer.
