I have a 89 Ranger 4x4 Super cab. I must have a small leak in my clutch system, but I can not find it. I've bled the system once and it seamed fine, but every now and then it just acts like there is very little pedal. I'm thinking about removing the rubber cone from inside the reservoir so it can hold more fluid, Has anyone tried this? Could this cause any problems.
I really don't think I have a leak. I think I just got some air in the system when it got low once. The truck has 85,000 miles on it.
chances are you have a leak at the slave cylinder.i had this happen on a 92 f150,it about drove me batty ,till i found it.if it is life mine there should be a rubber plug tha covers an inspection port on the side of the bell housing, look in ther with a flash light while someone runs the clutch pedal. i wouldn`nt remove that rubber boot,it is there to keep the fluid from pulling water out of the air, remeber thats still brake fluid, and its famous for that.
