This question keeps coming to mind...
When George Bush is finishing his second term of office in 2008- and at this point, can anyone really see anyone beating him for the title?- what is going to happen in the Republican party? Does Dick Cheney run for the job as the GOP nominee? I can't see that happening. His health will be the biggest issue. However, the Republican party cannot afford to give him the nomination; after all, we allowed him to be the VP for 8 years!! So, I feel like the GOP would lose all credibility by not nominating Cheney at that time. I see him either stepping down for health reasons shortly before the time comes, or something surfacing, causing him to step aside for some other reasons. Of course, at this time, I am assumng that GWB will win a second term. Has anyone else thought of this?
Ole' Dick don't scare me. I'll tell ya who I'd be scared of if I was a Democrat though. Jeb Bush. He has the family name and fund raising connections, a reputation of being fairly moderate and he's very articulate and well spoken which is one of the knocks on W. Jeb could hold his own against anyone in a debate I think. That's who I'm hoping for.

Jeb possibly, but why not other brother Neil. He would have a few problems to overcome. Among them: He had sex with women that showed up uninvited at his hotel rooms in Asia: he had an affair and may have fathered a child out of wedlock; and he stands to make millions from businesses in which he has little expertise - including a computer-chip company managed in part by the son of the former Chinese president. Now that would make an interesting debate.

Sounds like someone even Bill Clinton could vote for
I think Cheney will stick with Bush thru the election but may step down in the 2nd term for "Health Reasons" thus allowing the Republican Party to spotlight another candidate a couple of years early beating the other party to the punch.

I think we need to start expanding the "Presidential gene pool" a little. As the saying goes, "There's a big world out there.......". There's 300,000,000 Americans, I have to believe at least a couple of them are Republicans.
i don't think colin will run....and if Bush is reelected this term than the dem's will run Hillary in 2008. And if that happens then the Reps will run a male as to capture the male vote, so...condoleezza is out. Cheney is out for health reasons.....heck...why not nominate tommy tompson.....

Yeah there are 300,000,000 Americans but few of them would have a realistic chance of winning. Remember, name recognition and fund raising are very important. I think Jeb will be the candidate in '08 personally. Who knows though. I would love to see Powell or Rice run. It would be great to have the first woman and first minority president at the same time......... And have her be a Republican

Me for prez in 08...Send all your money to me and I promise you will all get a $100,000 tax deduction on your purchase of a new Ford...even if it don't cost that much, and even if you don't make that much.
