ok guys i got my crimestopper alarm w/keyless entry in today. i plan on doing the install next weekend. any advice on this? anyone installed a system like this? advice on which wires to tap into and where they are would be helpful. i have already read the instructions and plan on reading them many more times. but i would like to hear what kinda advice those with experience have to offer. thanks
Don't know what model you have, but I have the CS-2001FC II Gargoyle Alarm.
I can't give you much advice about the installation, I had a shop install mine. But I was there for most of it and you do need to remove the lower part of the dash (driver's side) and the emergency brake bracket (for more room to work?). It took the guy about 1 1/2 hrs. , but of course he was a pro. It works pretty good, except for two things: the siren is just not loud enough, and the range is bad. So I would suggest you place the siren somewhere near the front grill, not back near the firewall and/or connect the optional wire for the horn to go off along with the siren. And the range is pretty bad (I would say no more than 50 ft.) so make sure the antenna is fully extended and in a good location. I'm gonna have to go back to the shop and have them take a look at it.
hey man, thanks alot for that advice. i did get the gargoyle(off ebay for a heckuva price). i was debating whether or not to hook that horn wire up. i definitely will now! as for the range, make sure the guy installed the antenna away from any metal. it says in the instructions to make abolutely sure it is not installed by any metal or other wires. i probably won't remove the parking brake bracket because i'm gonna take out my drivers seat.
