Ok, I have a 1999 F-150 and would like to install a set of OEM fog lamps. The catch is that I have a 2 wheel drive truck and no lamp holes in my valance on my front bumper. I want to know if the 4X4 bumper will bolt on and if not, what hardware I would need to do this, or if I should just give up on my pipe dream of fog lights on my truck.
thanks for any inof to do this at a reasonable price!!
I would like to do this also. So far I've come up with the following:
1. I would need a new headlight switch, with the fog lamp option
2. replace the air dam with one with fog lights (4X4 f150 or Expy. should fit) or cut out the holes in the original and use aftermarket lights
3. The wiring should already be there (?)
I really don't care if it looks stock or not, I just don't want to deal with new wiring. Did I overlook anything? Anyother ideas?
I'm looking at doing this on my 98 4X4. I asked my buddy (parts manager) at the local dealer and he said he would look into the kit for me, but the kit comes with a new headlight switch, and I believe that wiring must be done, but it is fairly simple in the kit.
This is what I have so far for the parts and how ot get them. My only issue is the wiring harness, which I guess I'd need to get from the dealer..... . Hope this helps you guys out: Remember: these are for 1999 to 2001 (I think). go to the link and it should help you with finding the stuff for your particular rig. Good luck!!!
I had the fog lamps added to my 98 after I purchased it. The wiring harness was already there. Look at the front of the radiator support member (behind the headlights) and see if there is an unused connector on each side. Those are the fog lamp wiring harnesses. All you have to do is mount the fog lamps, loosen the connector from the support, plug it in, and put in the new switch.
This was on a 98 f150 4x4. I do not know if the harness is there on a 4x2.
Can you do without adding the new switch? I was thinking of Tapping into the Parking Light to power the fog lights... There is a post on this Message board.
Yes, you can tap into the parking light circuit, but only as control for the relay which will power the lights. Your fog light switch can also be in this control circuit. Without a fog switch, your lights would always be on whenever the parking lights are on (seems odd, but maybe you want that).
As you probably know, if you don't already have the relay, or get one with your lights, you have to add one. The fogs would overload the parking lamp circuit.
I have the fog lamps on mine from the factory and find it odd that they can only be turned on with the lights on. My old truck had a separate switch which allowed me to turn them on without the headlights being on.

MrBSS: If you can only use the Parking light for controling the relay... well, that means that I will have to run wiring from the Parking Lights circuit to the FogLight relay...
1. where would the FogLight relay generally be (with the switch on the dashboard?)
2. where is the other end of the connector that is near the foglight mounting? I was hoping to find voltage there, but nothing...
Waaa-Laaa... so last weekend, i spent the whole sunday (since the Denver Broncos got their BUTT's kicked and out of contention) rewiring the Light switch and BAAAMMMM i got fog lights.
I did not have to make any "mechanical" changes to the Light switch (as some of the technical "how to" tell you to do). Just rewired the relay for the fog light to come on either with the parking light or Head Light. I decided to go with head light, just because it made more sense to have the fogs ON with the Head lights ON as well.
Only one gripe I have... I could not locate the relay in the engine compartment... but finally I was able to determine which one it was....
It's time to pay amage... I love this site... have gotten some good advise and ideas.
I am going to post the pictures and instructions for some others to try the same...
wait till you see the tools I used in this project... Trust me, you won't believe it.

MrBSS: thanks for your advise... I had to look a bit deeper into your sugestion and the electrical diagram and I think this was the best option I had...
