wheels/tires on 56`F100

wheels/tires on 56`F100
Bought a F100 2 weeks ago from california with 215 front and 235 rear rubber.
Will leave front size as it is but want more in the rear.
How big can i go without widening the fender ?
Is the rear leaves on the outside or inside of the frame ?
Does anyone have pics of theire truck`s underside with fat tires installed ?
Have not seen the truck in the real world yet, (it is beeing shipped to norway and will not arrive until early febuary) will try to send pics of it to gallery soon.

Congrats on your new truck. I'll bet you're excited to see it. 255s will fit in the stock rear fenders. I don't think you could tuck 275s in there. If you can, your rim backspacing would have to be absolutely perfect. I have seen wider tires on back. But the ride height was high enough to keep the tires from entering the fenders much.

275's are a possible without widening the fenders, with mine the biggest clearance issue was with the inner sidewall and the side of the bed. I had to put a 5/16" wheel spacer on the hubs to give the tire enough room. But you truely are splitting hairs with this size tire. There are some pics in my Toy II gallery that show what 275's look like.

Couple more points when pushing your luck on tire clearance.
What clears in the garage doesn't account for slight side movement in your axle when your truck is leaning in a turn.
Actual tire sizes vary from oe manufacturer to the next. i.e. Goodyear 275-60-15 does not necessarily equal BF Goodrich in the same advertised size. The cross section width can get you in trouble even if the tread is the same.
Avoid wheel spacers if possible. You really have to babysit those things. Especially right after install.
