First check to see if the rating plate on the glove box door is still there...that plate should have the VIN number on it. If not then check on the top of the driver's side frame rail, around the area of the steering box, if your truck is 6 cylinder the battery tray may make it hard to find. The numbers are just stamped, starting with a star, then the number for the truck. You might have to bust out something to scrape any grease and other crap that accumulates on the rail.
Thanks so much for your help. I found the VIN on the frame where you said it would be. I almost gave up, I was looking too far back. It was about a foot ahead of the stearing box and it was covered good with grease and rust.
Excellent...glad I was able to be of some help in finding the VIN for your truck. Those numbers aren't stamped too deep...they get filled in by grease and dfirt pretty easily.
This comes up a lot. I got help from this forum and found mind on top of the frame, drivers side near the steering box. Had to clean the frame good to find it.
