I just looked at a '99 F-250 Super Duty (Super Cab/Short Wheel Base/V10 engine) that I am really interested in buying. I wanted to post and ask you guys what you think of yours, and if there are any problems that I should look for on it? Also (not the fuel mileage is important), what kind of mileage do the V10s get?

Ahh you don't want one of these they're horrible trucks, you stumbled on a whole website of suckers.
Seriously, though, welcome to the board. It may not be the most unbiased place to ask that question though.
The Superduty is, IMHO, the best truck you can buy. I love mine, there's nothing else on the road (short of maybe a REAL HUMMER or a Ferrari) that I'd rather own. My brother has a '99, same truck as you described but with the 5.4 V8, he's got over a 170,000kms on it and has never had a problem. He loves it.
There were some issues with the early build '99s, I'm not all that clear on them, a search of the site is a good place to start. I'm sure the gang will be along with all the info you need though. I think the V10 was slightly down on HP in 99, but I'm not sure what the exact specs were.
The SD is a pretty tough truck and you'd have to beat on one pretty hard to wear it out in 3 years. Look for general condition of the truck and all the usual things that go with buying any used vehicle. Give us a few moer details about hte truck and we can give you some details as to what to look out for.
I get 11-12mpg city and 14-16mpg highway depending on conditions with my truck (see sig).
I have a '99 F-250, SC, Short bed with the V10. I love it, has 120k, no problems besides a vehicle speed sensor (common) going out. The V10 is smooth, quiet power, and mine gets 10-12 mpg, 14 hwy and mountains.
The only bad things are the cup holder, small gas tank, and the rear seat. It would be nice if it split to fold down, and don't plan on putting anyone back there for an extended amount of time.
I think the V-10 is a great engine. Loves to run (roar). I've had mine since 6/98. Don't have but 43,000 miles on it though. Can't really tell you signs to look for. But a minor electrical problem (actuator went out on the front drivers side) no problems at all! It's a very smooth and quiet running engine. Plenty of mods available for extra horses and torque too!
I love these trucks. In fact I wouldn't mind getting one for the wife to drive but she says that she wouldn't mind getting rid of me if I do that. See specs on truck below....10-12MPG City 14-15 Highway.
Just make sure you don't accidentally get a short-bed. Gotta have the tailgate open just to haul a load of plywood or drywall or a sofa. Makes you feel kinda inferior after a while
From: I'm lost somewhere in NJ -- can someone please find me?!?!?!?
Thinking about getting a Super Duty
Gotta' agree with waxy... Got my Super Cab Long Bed thinking, "You can never be too big" Man, was I dilusional! I need to pull into 2 parking spaces just so half my truck doesn't stick out! Next truck I order will be a short bed with a trailer for when I have to help my friends move or carry a lot of gear.
As far as the back seat is concerend, it is kinda small, but still a whole lot better than what I remember of the back seat in my Camaro. Not that I care; I never had to sit back there, and don't plan on trying.
Depending what you are going to use it for that short bed will be just fine. My four wheeler and tool box fill up my long bed with the gate closed it all fits. As for the Super Duty, awsome truck, loves gas but the more I drive mine the more I feel it's worth it. Took mine out in the snow yesterday and it was a lot more stable than my '96 F150 was. Anyway if you don't mind going to the gas station a lot, you'll love that truck...
Good luck
Mine is a 5.4V8 4X4 SC SD Long Box GVW 6,500lbs dry, no ESOF
You don't have to go to the gas station anymore then a V8. I have a shortbed, I would have prefered a long bed and will order a long bed next go round. BTW..I love to take up multiple spaces. I mean what are they going to do. Block me in.
