1957 F-100
Bob is a rather nice guy, he has a Great deal of parts & he works w/ you no matter what, but he is a '56 Ford on back Truck Modifier & Not a Truck Restorer.
He knows Very little about '57-'60 Ford/Merc trucks, specifically 223 c.i. I-6's & Ford/Merc-o-Matic trannies.
The replacement, supposedly "Built" '56 223 c.i. I-6 engine he put in for me goes through 2 1/2 qts. of oil a week, the crank case is over pressurizing & it lacks power in any range. I have taken it back several times & it still is not right.
The Ford/Merc-o-Matic Tranny Bob also installed had to be completely rebuilt by Big 4 Transmissions & another Tourque Converter found to replace the one that Bob supplied, as it was in such a state that it was not rebuildable, after I paid for the complete Ford/Merc-o-Matic tranny & all his work.
And it turns out that he supplied a '56 Bell Housing & Tourque Converter that are of the "Air Cooled" type & the Tranny is the "Fluid Cooled" type & he mated the 2 together which made for interesting problems down the road.
He does a Great Power Steering conversion to the Toyota type that Everyone here seems to like, but I asked for N.O.S. parts to be used. One of his competitors has these N.O.S. parts & he knew this & still did the Toyota conversion. And he did not tell me that w/ this conversion you loose the use of your Original Horn Button that came w/ your truck & an after market one is installed on the Steering Column, which I had to take the truck back to have done as it wasn't when he originally had it for 3 months.
Unless he supervises her crew or does the work himself it does not get done correctly or not at all or takes forever, at least on my '58 M-100.
Still check ebay, lots of truck stuff comes up there...might find what you need. Also, try posting this question in the forum located right above this one, the 48-60 Fourm...there are quite a few '57-'60 owners, somebody there might have the parts needed. Try Bob's F100 parts...he has tons of trucks and parts for F series trucks. His website is http://www.bobsf100.com
