Received the recall notice for the bad camera software.
In the very same recall notice, it says MY TRUCK IS NOT AFFECTED BY THE RECALL AND TO IGNORE IT!!!
Why in the hell did they send me a recall notice, with my VIN on it and it does not affect my truck???
From a different perspective, Ford and/or the dealer likely get lots of calls from people who hear there is a safety recall on their MY. They then learn the recall does not apply to their VIN. Sending the "does not apply" notice may be an attempt to reduce customer support workload that may cost more than sending the notice.
Sending out the notice you received is completely automated and costs Ford very little.
What the OP is saying is that it's odd to get a recall letter saying that your truck doesn't have a recall. I felt the same way when I got the same letter a few days ago. Everyone is familiar with NHTSA and checking for recalls.
. Everyone is familiar with NHTSA and checking for recalls.
Really? I would bet there are more people not familiar with checking NHTSA for recalls than there are that do. Then there are those who don't even know where to find their VIN.
I’d rather receive recall notification that don’t apply than notifications that do apply and have no resolution.
This, the fact that they haven’t come up with a solution for the fuel pump in almost a year pisses me off. You would think that it would have a high priority as it could cut out going down the road at highway speeds and kill someone(s) but what do I know.
Did you ever stop to consider that it might be to put your mind at ease? Why be so ready to jump all over Ford? Did this letter adversely affect you in any substantive way?
It seems like the NHTSA has always had issues with my recalls, but at least Ford has them right. To date, I have only had 2 recalls on my 22:
22V250: issued sometime late 2021/early 2022. This is one of the previous windshield wiper recalls, not the current one. I took it into the dealership and while they didn't do anything about it, they did state that it was "ok and didn't need it..." They cleared it in their system and it no longer shows up in my FP app, or on the Ford website, however, the NHTSA still shows it as "recall incomplete." So, Ford cleared it, but the NHTSA site doesn't reflect that.
22E04: issued sometime in 2022 IIRC... I have opted not to have this "emissions" recall done, so it still shows up in my FP app, and on the Ford site when I enter my VIN. However, the NHTSA site makes no mention of it... neither as current or previous...
What's even more interesting, on the home page for the NHTSA Safer Car app, it shows I have "no unrepaired recalls"...When I click onto my "Recall History" the next page shows 0 Recalls and there is a Resolved Recall History tab. When I click on it, it brings me to the 22V250 Recall Incomplete page... So, in my case the NHTSA site is all screwed up, it doesn't lists actual recalls, and on one page it says I have no recalls, but the very next says I have unresolved recalls... and yes, the VIN is entered correctly. But at least Ford has it all correct though! So I don't really trust the NHTSA site in my case.... Thankfully, I don't get much correspondence in the mail from Ford either, so that is nice!
