Difference between 69+70 FORD F-100 4X4 lift kits
Can someone please tell me why they don't offer 2.5-inch lift kits for the 69-ford f-100 4x4 pickups and only for the 70-76 f-100 4x4s. I am currently restoring my 69-ford f-100 4x4 that's been in storage for 25-30 years I have already installed the front disk brake conversion probably going to put a hydro boost system on also. along with a bench works power steering set up. already replaced all the seals gaskets and axel U joints I have already purchased a 2- inch super lift kit. the more I look at it I wished someone made a 2.5 inch lift kit for the 69 f-100 4x4s really don't want to go to a 4-inch didn't really want to make a f-100 to look like a f-250 high boy just want to be able to put 33'' tall tires don't want to get into rubbing issues.
Sorry, wish I could remember. Not really sure, but trying to remember from back in my old parts counter days.
The coil springs should be identical. The rear leaves might have different ratings, but I think the overall dimensions are the same. And certainly if using lift blocks there is nothing that says you can't make them work with a '69.
What, if anything, have you done to the steering box orientation and pitman arm style? It's possible that the lift companies are simply limiting their applications due to some extremely minor and easily surmountable item.
I mean, it's only a half an inch you're talking about here. What could possibly go wrong... Don't answer that!
Who's tie-rod is that? What does the drag-link look like?
If it's going to be set up the way I think it will be, you would probably want to twist the tie-rod "up" so that the hole points upward at roughly a 60° angle.
Easier to clear the lower end of the drag-link, and puts it at a better angle to avoid/reduce the instance of "tie-rod roll" that we see with linkages that have the draglink attach to the tie-rod straight front to back like in your picture.
Great looking stuff by the way. Beautiful truck!
Got a pic of the chassis in more detail?
Thanks
Paul
