I'm not sure about the push pull, is an old ball style gear box that was hard to steer from the factory and has become near impossible.
I have looked hours and hours on end for a direct replacement gear box or some sort of power steering or power assisted steering and have come up with nothing that looks promising without major modifications. The truck is all origional and i am one of those who want to keep it that way to the extent that it is drivable and safe.
Red Head can provide a new steering box or rebuild your existing. Make sure your kingpins and all other front end parts are in good shape as that is normally the issue
Hey John, I have been doing some reading of older posts, and on page 1496, I just came across a thread (maybe you have seen it) titled "'64 Toyota P/S Conversion Help", started by member Jay28 back on March 15th 2003. There was not a lot of info, but, it still might be useful to you in your search for more information.
There is the link to the post Matt mentions. As it alludes to in that you have to modify your steering column and replace your steering gear with the Toyota gear in order for that to work. And then it works best with a 4-speed on the floor - with the 3-speed on the column you have the extra challenge of either trying to retain the column shift mechanism down through the shifting arms or you convert to a floor shift. Not ideal if trying to maintain originality.

Thanks Chad, now what did you do to attach that thread to your post in this thread?

I'm on a desktop computer using the Edge browser but same with any browser. First, I find the thread and open it so I'm reading it. Then looking up at the address bar that starts out with https:// I highlight that entire thing and then Copy (CTRL+C on a Windows computer).
Then I go find the thread where I want to include the link and start a Reply and choose Paste (CTRL+V on a Windows computer) on the line where I want the link to appear. Right click Copy and right click Paste with the mouse works fine, too.
Thanks, I think I got it. Then again, with computers I tend to ride the short bus...the very, very short bus. In fact, it's more like a flexible flyer wagon, painted to look like a bus, being pulled by an angry goat that will go anywhere except where I want. (Sigh)
