Finally found a chrome roll bar in good shape. Problem is it's made for a step-side. Any ideas to make it fit? The kickers need to be about 6" wider on each side.
Do you want to use the bed or not is the question?
If not then run a bar across from wheel well to wheel well and make brackets to fit the "kickers"'
BTW even if you got one for a Flare Side (what ford calls the bed with fenders and single wheel) it still would not fit.
Only other think is to keep looking for the right one.

I vote for sending it back and getting one for a style side bed. But if you insist you could find a fabrication shop with large tube bending equipment to put a 5 or 10 degree horizontal bend in the kicker close to the top, widening the stance. Likely will screw up your chrome job so you'll have to repair the chrome somehow. I wear size 11 shoes. I never wear size 10.

Yeah, I want to use the bed. I put a queen mattress in the back and take my daughters to the drive-in movies fairly often. I would keep looking for the "right one", but I've been looking for 2 years. They don't really exist anymore.

Got it off FB marketplace. I could just resell it I guess, but there isn't anywhere to get new ones that are chromed.

It's installed on paint cans in the bed. Need to find a way to fasten it down.

My current idea is to simply attach the kickers to the side of the roll bar instead of along the top bar. I would have to drill a new hole in the vertical bar on each side as well as find or make a plastic or rubber spacer. I wonder if rubber engine mounts would work.
Cut the top center tube and make a sleeve either for the inside of the tube or the outside of the tube.
see how much width you could get there then
same thing for the legs you could rotate them to a better angle or lengths.
Get the right roll bar that fits. If it's not chrome then you can have it chromed. There's a couple places near Seattle that do it. I'm sure other big cities have a chrome operation. Else get some chrome paint. You probably can do a decent bomb can job with a little care.

I think that is a good idea. That way the rear would sit flat on the bed and be wider. I think I would take a grinder and carefully grind the side pieces to fit on the front bar. That will be a little tricky, but a little at a time should work. Then a tiny bit of silver paint so it will not rust.
I would get the side pieces fitting good, then drill the holes for them in the main piece. You will probably have to take the grinder and grind a little bit of the chrome off to drill the hole. The drill bit is not going to want to start on the chrome plating, it is very hard.
