2002 XLT Drivers Side Steel Brake Line Replacement ID
I'm finding it very difficult to find an exact match for a part. I know the Ford part number, it was on the original line I removed. YL34-2265-AA. AI tells me it's a typo and it should be YL3Z but it isn't. The part is of course discontinued from Ford and I can't even find it on Fords official parts site. I'm using the VIN on different sites where I can and it's not helping. (Side note: i'm getting results that it's a Harley Davidson Model but I don't think it is). None of the pre-formed lines look like a match, but with the twists and turns up and down and sideways, it's hard to tell to be honest. The ones that are suggested match a different Ford part number. I'm at wits end. I thought about calling 1A Auto as they have some parts that look close and seeing what they say.
I'm trying to avoid buying a Dorman complete kit (non of which have a line that looks like mine anyway) and I don't want to buy a coil and try to form it and flare it as I'm an amateur. Feel free to tell me to do these things if you think that's the best advice but I'm really seeking a way to confirm getting the correct pre-fabricated part. As notorious as this exact piece is for rusting out, I'd think it would definitely be available.
The long piece in this stock photo is "guaranteed to match" but it just looks very different from my actual line to me.
My line My Line Label right on it!
Well, those are engineering numbers on the part, not the actual part numbers, the basic (middle) number will be the same
You have been looking at GM vehicles for too long?
Some years ago I had a leak in the line that runs down the left side of my 2003 XLT. I took the line off, bought some line that matched and some line bending tools and spent about 2 hours bending the new line to match on my kitchen floor. I had a line spreader for the ends and, of course, put the nuts on before spreading the ends. The tools I got from Home Depot and the line I got from a local auto parts store. You can do it. The line is still on my truck and works great. Good luck.
Thanks. I really wanted to get a pre-fab line with fittings but it's been a huge pain in the rear. It goes way beyond any part search I've ever encountered. As an added wrinkle, I've learned today that 2002s made before 12/31/01 use completely different fittings than anything after. I found this out after I had finally found the correct line, so i thought LOL. Anyway, I may be onto something as I think I may need to buy a line for 1997-2001 for my 2002 truck. It's no wonder I didn't get any responses with the correct part. This is insane!!! If I find out tommorow when they message me back that neither item will work, I'll be going the route you suggested. Thanks.
Welp, every single listing that eBays fitment feature says fits says it's ONLY for trucks manufactured after 12/31/01. My truck is a 2002 model but was manufactured in 11/01. Co-pilot AI says get it anyway. Grok says I must get the one for the 1997-2001 range because the fittings are different. That would make sense why the listings are adamant about MANUFACTURED AFTER 12/31/01. I've messaged two sellers and I guess their strategy is to ignore customers and let them play the order and return game lmao. Both lines look exactly the same and you can't zoom in on the picture to look at the fittings and there are no fitting specs in the listings. I've never had this much trouble trying to find a part. Maybe I need a truck that isn't 25 years old
