1976 E150 Shorty modulator steel line oddball Problem
I am also replacing the single port C6 Modulator. I noticed that the Modulator is positioned on the rear of the transmission towards the left side (Not The Passenger side). The modulator Vacuum Hose connects to a 1/4 inch steel line that runs along the DRIVERS side rail up to the engine. Does anyone know of or heard of this type of configuration? It appears the Steel line had corroded in the rear and someone cut the line about 3 feet away from the transmission modulator and ran a 3 foot long rubber hose from the single port Transmission modulator to the steel line. I am thinking of putting a union on the steel line and flaring the 1/4 in vacuum Line and connecting a 1/4 in tube to get closer to the modulator. I have not seen any brackets to attach the new steel line "Across the divide" to the transmission, but will take another look when the rains stop. Does anyone know of or heard of this steel vacuum line configuration? Maybe it is unique to Shorty vans?
Thank You All For Any Input, Barry, gobc1954
Most just run down on top of the trans with a clip at the bellhousing under a bolt
You do whatever you want, but the brake line was just to not use a long length of rubber hose
I would probably replace the whole piece of brake line and flare the ends like Ford did
