Here is my older brother's 427. Yes it is a 68 Camaro. And yes, although it says 396 on the badging, the original owner put in a 427 and my brother bought it in 1969. He beat a lot of guys, thinking it was a 396, in street races. He still has it. Dennis @pintoplumber has seen it.
needs some detail work... look at that green Ford next to it.
And he let me drive it to the Jr/Sr Prom. My date wasn't impressed but the guys were!
Someday I'll have a 427 4 speed in a 56
I've been watching these 2 427 boat engines for a while now

The SOHC is a thing of beauty, and the side-oiler is no slouch.
A friend has a couple of cars with SOHCs installed that came from the track. A Mustang and a Galaxy with the swiss-cheese frame. He also has a display model of the SOHC with cutouts so you can see the internals. Crazy stuff! He lives on the other side of the country so I don't get to drool very often.
Are they worth $12k or is that one of those "I have a rusted and bent deck lid off of a real Hemi Cuda so I'm asking $1,500..."?
A pair of real, virgin, complete and running 427's is probably worth that. There are people out there that will pay that kind of money for engines like those.
Were these boat engines in fresh or salt water? Not a big deal if they had a closed cooling system. But if open, only going by what I’ve read on numerous forums, those with open systems, especially if used in salt water, could be a rusty mess in the cooling passages.
ive read some boat 427s appear to be side oilers, but weren’t drilled as such. No first hand knowledge, I’ll admit.

if you click on the market place ad he speaks of how these are side oilers to fill an order to Christ craft. Yes all boat motors are center oiler 427 and these were fresh water Lake Erie boats

if these are true side oilers I'd say that are $4000-$5000 each. the boat motors didn't come with all the normal goodies like lemans rods and steel cranks but 427 blocks don't have a lot of meat for over bore so virgin side oiler blocks are very desirable.
