Today was a great day. The Spring Jefferson Swapmeet at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds was this weekend. I didn't need anything, in fact I should thin out my inventory of old truck and car parts but you can't turn down a good swapmeet. Normally anyone who has gone to the spring swapmeet meet knows there's at least 75% chance is going to be a mud fest. In the last couple of weeks we have had some really fierce rains and the fairgrounds lie within the flood plain of a major river so it always a mud pit. Not this weekend, it was dry, sunny and in the upper 60s, low 70s. I also wasn't sure I would be going because no one I knew in my small circle of auto friends seemed to be going and the few that were already had arrangements to go with someone. My youngest son Andy rearranged a few plan and went with me early this morning.
I don't need anything but I enjoy walking the grounds, grabbing a burger or a brat and a couple of cold sodas. We got into the fair grounds and walked about 100 feet and I see a familiar Bonus Built part with a note inked on it,..
I asked the seller what it meant and he told me if I could tell him what the part was I could have it for free. Well.............. I tell him it's a cowl vent for a 1948 to 1952 Ford truck. He said it was mine. That was worth the price of admission.
I bought some sand paper and some tools, and yes, two brats and a couple of sodas
