Hi, I am looking for a truck as my 2001 I've had over 25 years is getting old and I want a 1975(pre smog in Ca.) or older truck that are easier to work on and less [parts to go wrong. I've owned many old Fords (mostly Mustangs) over the years but not old trucks. How can I learn more about them? Like the options available and the many variations offered. What models came with what engines, transmissions and rearends. What colors and trims. The pros and cons. Costs of certain parts, if I buy a fixer which I prefer, so I know what I'm getting into before I buy. Examples: how much to reupholster a bench seat, how much to replace a windshield, how much for various parts. There was a way to search for vehicles for sale that would show vehicles from many sites and sources which I can't remember or find.
If youre looking for a bumpside, this page has a lot of info. https://www.fordification.com/tech/technical-index.htm. As far as pricing things, you will have to search it out. I wish Nevada was 1975 cutoff for smog. Here it is still 1968 unless you run classic plates.
Thanks for the info. That is exactly some of what I want to see. I didn't know Nevada was worse. That's messed up. I don't like the limits of classic plates, and I like having original plates. I don't even know what bumpside body is about yet, I've heard a few names flare side and style side also which is part of why I posted. 1972 is probably my favorite which is also my favorite year for my Lincoln, Mustang and other cars, but other years might work. I understand prices as I've been watching sales which are all over the place, but I have enough of an idea. It has been tough finding good info so far and the searching has taken many hours and spotty info. Was hoping for a shortcut with a wealth of info like maybe a book etc.
