390 motor problems
I have a 390 that just got rebuilt and decided to use a HEI distributor but im not sure where number 1 on the cap of the distributor is so I can wire it correctly Im aware that the motor has to be at TDC to drop the distributor in and ive done that just looking for help on where plug wire 1 goes on the cap can send a video if wanting that for help

Make sure that you are on the compression stroke by pulling the # 1 spark plug and crank the engine until your thumb feels the pressure from the piston's compression before dropping the distributor back in place. Then put the rotor on the distributor shaft and it will be pointing to where the # 1 wire would go into the cap.
