Vin Decoder - Any Idea how to find this 1965 F100?
Would someone be able to decode the VIN from the old insurance record photo? I’m wondering what the paint code was on this truck in the photo and if the bed is short or long bed?
Also,
I would love to be able to track this truck down!
Would anyone have any ideas using the vin number? 1965 blue F100. This photo was my dad's truck taken in 1981 near Shasta, CA.
Separately, would love to purchase a truck just like this if anyone had one for sale or has any leads! Thank you!
Here's the decode of the VIN number. You'd need to have the warranty plate info to decode more. That plate would give the wheelbase length which would give us if it were short or long bed - and the color code would be on that plate, too. If I had to guess at paint color, I'd guess either Marlin (medium) Blue code W (common) or Silver Blue code Y (have not recorded one yet). I keep a running list of trucks I see on the internet and in person and no 1965 with the Y paint code yet. There is also a chance it was a non-stock color for the trucks - custom color but typically one of the colors available in the car line-up.
I have a 1966 F250 for sale, north of Fresno CA, not as purdy as the one in the picture but it does run well, it has a good patina if you like that, or you could have it painted, I put a rear seat out of a 90's crew cab in it and have the original seat in the bed. It does also have the OG CA Black license plates that came with the truck when first purchased. It's on fb mktplc too with more pics
@Pickupmanx2 Seems like a nice unmolested f250. Appears someone knew exactly what they wanted for a work truck without the bells and whistles of a custom cab. The locking Dana 60 is nice, and I don't see that many with the cab roof lights. Hope you find a buyer that will appreciate what they are getting.
@amwilliams55 , wish you all the best in finding or finding what you want. Any other pictures might be helpful, in narrowing down what your dad had. There are some keen eagle eyes in this group, and I am no longer surprised when someone points out some minute detail from a photo that I would never have noticed if not for them.
I am on a lot of forums and tons of people look for a family member’s former car. Very rarely do they find it.
My favorite car was a 914 Porsche my Dad had when I was 10. I knew I didn’t have a chance to find it so I built an exact tribute to it. To me that is my Dad’s little 914.
Buy that F250 that’s for sale and make it your dad’s truck. You’ll have a blast putting it together by memory and a few pictures you might have. That’s just my two cents.
Good luck if you continue to search. You never know………
