1995 F150 Eddie Bauer Fuel Vent Valve and Line Questions

Hi. I have a 95 F150 Eddie Bauer Supercab (5.8L) with dual fuel tanks that I am restoring. I replaced the tanks and needed to replace the vent valves and the seals. The truck had vent valves on it that had two ports for vent lines/tube. I have not yet found a YT video showing the 2-port configuration. No parts store had these 2-port vent valves but they all did have the single port vent valve, a Dorman 911-060. However, I found the two port valves on Amazon (P/N: E8UZ-9B593-A) and they look identical to the original. However, I tried a replacement seal with part #F6TC-9B076-AA, and the 2 port valves will NOT go into the seal (with seal installed in the tank first, even using lubricant). After much web search, I found a Fairchild seal P/N F4111, and when you search the NAPA website for that part number it comes up with Dorman or NAPA P/N 926-820. This Dorman seal, though on the NAPA site said it was 22.7mm inside diameter, measures the same as the other seals I bought (about 22.3mm inside diameter). I can get the 2-port valves into the seal but only outside of the fuel tank. As stated above, the 2 port valves will not go in.
  • So my first option and question is: I want to retain the two port design since that was what was installed. Does anyone know of the correct part number and a source for the seal for this vent valve? I have the valves, I need seals that fit.
  • My second option and question is to convert the system from the 2-port vent valve, to the single port. Can I do this? Will they function? The Dorman seals and single port vent valves do fit physically in the tank. How would I connect the hoses / lines? One of the existing hoses for the front tank seems to vent to open air, while the other line joins to main line to the charcoal cannister up front. IS this system meant to be closed (except to the charcoal cannister) or is an open line OK? Any diagrams would be helpful and appreciated.

Some pictures below. Thanks in advance for any advice. I am going to see what manuals I have and what they say, but in my experience a lot of these tech books are hit or miss on questions like these.

Are the 2-port valves on both tanks? Where does the other hose go to? If the 2-port is only on the front tank, and the other hose then goes to the rear tank, you can convert to the 1-port style and just put a tee in the 2 hoses that come from each of the vent valves.

Both tanks had the 2-port vent valves. I am asking multiple questions, I know, because as you suggest I will need to get the connections correct. I can see the front (mid-ship) tank had two hoses to it, and one seemed to go to air (not connected). The rear tank, I do not know where both connections went. One for sure was to the main line that heads up front to the charcoal cannister.

UPDATE: After consulting the Hynes and Chilton manuals, they were somewhat descriptive, but provided no diagrams or useful information for this particular problem. Then my brother Rob sent me the diagram below which he found on the JEGS website. They had the 2 port vent valve. The one site I did not visit.... Anyway, the useful information is that as shown in the diagram, the system's 2nd port does indeed vent to the atmosphere. So my brother suggested getting hose and some tee fittings and just replicate the 2-port setup by venting off the tee to the atmosphere, from the single port valves that I installed. I will try that.

Have you checked LMR? https://lmr.com/item/FTP-89593A/bron...alve-92-96-5-8. There are a lot more showing on Amazon for less $$$, but it is Amazon. Search Google: Ford Bronco Dual Port Fuel Tank Vapor Valve

hi. Thanks for that... I will try it.if.my current plan fails. In the details for that part, it lists as a "Reference Number" the same part number I bought off Amazon, which fit the tank but would not accept the 2 port valve. I not the Bronco Graveyard page does say that it.is specifically for the 2 port valve, but with that part number reference I am skeptical. I am picking up my hose and fittings from O'Reilly later today. I will update this thread when I get it installed.

Thanks. I already have the 2 port valves, just not seals. Thanks for the tip on LMR... I had not heard of them before.

It was just a quick Google search that turned up a result... I know nothing about them. I have seen the grommets on LMC Trucks and Summit Racing both. The problem with online shopping is that they don't like to give you dimensions on the items like grommets. The grommet turns up the Dorman part number 926-820 which shows up available at my local O'Reilly Auto Parts. If it turns out to be incorrect, your parts store may be able to look it up according to the dimensions that you need.

Using a tee to vent to atmosphere is just going to make your vent system be open all the time as there will be no purge valve (per your diagram from Jegs) to regulate that. If your truck is OBD2 that may trigger a CEL.

Thanks. I was wondering about that. Maybe I should just skip the tee fitting and go single vent? I could cap off the tee and then everything would run to the charcoal cannister. PS: Truck is OBD-1, not OBD-2, seems according to the plug-in port. Will verify that.

That's what I would do since you already have what you need to complete that. Just hook up the vent tube that goes to the front of the truck and delete the extra hose that goes no where anyway.

Thanks. If I get not other tips or info, I probably will do that. It just sticks in my head that I should replace what was there with like products. Very perplexing to find almost no info on the 2-port vent, and even when some places (JEGS for example) carry them, nobody seems to have the correct size seal for the 2-port.

I replaced my rear tank not long ago. I had the dual valve, as well, and wanted to keep it, but the grommet was shot.

I ordered this valve:
Amazon.com: Suspenix Fuel Tank Vent Valve, Fuel Tank Vent with Grommet Seal Compatible with Ford 1980-1996 F150 F250, 1980-1997 F350 Thunderbird (Pack of 1) : Automotive Amazon.com: Suspenix Fuel Tank Vent Valve, Fuel Tank Vent with Grommet Seal Compatible with Ford 1980-1996 F150 F250, 1980-1997 F350 Thunderbird (Pack of 1) : Automotive

The grommet fit the tank fine, but the opening is too small for the dual valve. So, I trashed the Amazon valve and took a Dremel with a sandpaper cylinder on it and reamed out the grommet. Opening the grommet + a little lubricant made it work perfect for the dual valve.

This would probably work, too, if you want a spare grommet:
Amazon.com: Suspenix 2pcs Fuel Tank Vent Valve Grommet Seals Compatible with Cherokee XJ, Comanche MJ, Grand Cherokee ZJ, Wagoneer, Wrangler YJ, F150 F350 Bronco : Automotive Amazon.com: Suspenix 2pcs Fuel Tank Vent Valve Grommet Seals Compatible with Cherokee XJ, Comanche MJ, Grand Cherokee ZJ, Wagoneer, Wrangler YJ, F150 F350 Bronco : Automotive
