I have pre-assembled long block that does not build compression until I loosen the rockers it has a RV cam with roller lifters stock rockers and 6.25” push rods. Is it possible for the push rods to the wrong length and how do I know what length push rod to use. They are no set rockers 1986 302
Yes, pushrods can be the incorrect length. The best method of determining push rod length is to buy or make an adjustable push rod. Push rod length can change depending on factors such as parts used and machining. It might be helpful to post a little more info about the engine.

welcome to FTE
yes please give us some more information, as all i see is 1986 302. tell us what else you did, what heads you used, what year block, car or truck, did you convert it from flat tappet to the roller you stated you used, as with the little info given right now not knowing, it sounds like some miss matched parts
Did the 86 302 have a roller cam in it...if not then you cant use the push rods from it, with the roller cam and roller lifters, they will be too long, the roller makes the push rod needing shortened.
