Very soon, I will get the transmission (C6) on my 84 Bronco (351W) completely rebuilt. He is totally stock. His life will be pretty mellow and suburban. Maybe some light to medium towing, occasional dirt or gravel road, nothing serious.
I would like to spend just a bit extra on the transmission rebuild if it provides improved performance, fuel economy (!), and longevity.
Anyone have any reasonable low hanging fruit suggestions?
Fuel economy? I can't see anything in the transmission to effect that unless you get a really high stall converter.
You can't go wrong with a larger cooler. I don't believe there is such thing as a cooler too large. Before you do rebuild it, I would put a temp gauge in the truck and see what the baseline is.
