1990 F150 with 5.0. Motor has had work done to it before me. swapped to a carburetor (or complete motor swap), electric fan and turned down open headers. The truck idles fine. When it goes down the road it dies after just a few blocks. It will start back up after 60minutes? This came to us as a non runner "that just needs a fuel pump" issue.
We put a low pressure pump in the tank that is identical to a pump that would be in a fuel injected 1988 model year. This truck does not have a pump or reservoir on the frame rail.
The first thought is vapor locking. The second thought is needs fuel regulator.
What is fuel pressure, at carb...when it dies check coil, may breaking down from the heat, then has to cool off again before restarting...3 things to run, spark, fuel, air.
