4wd not locking in
I have a couple problems on my 2004 f150 and from what I am finding out they may be vacuum related. First, my heater quit working, nothing but wide open hot or off, The fan is still adjustable and all the settings for different heat positions still work but the temperature is not adjustable, full hot or nothing. There is also no AC. Second, got it out in the snow and the 4wd doesn't lock in gear. The dash light shows its in either 4wd high or 4wd low and it sounds like the transfer case is going in gear but the front wheels do not go in gear. Also after spinning with the rear wheels, when you stop and apply the brakes, the brake pedal is really hard to mash for just a second or so. Is this some type of vacuum problem? The engine runs smooth, not like it has a vacuum leak.

All of those symptoms can definitely point to a vacuum problem.
