Warranty parts and getting Ford to pay some labor on them
Hey Everyone,
I’m a Ford only repair shop.. I was at the dealer for 11 years, and have had my own shop now for about 14 years. At the encouragement of Juan Guerrero, the Ford Northeast market representative, I wanted to make sure everyone knows that Ford will pay a fleet or a repair shop up to $75 an hour with no stated limit, to replace a part if it fails on a Ford vehicle in the first 2 years after it is installed. Or, if no repair order was was generated when it was installed, then, for 2 years from the date on the parts invoice.
Attached are 2 pdf files that explain these thing in further detail that are provided directly from Ford corporate..
What Ford Classifies as a Fleet is noted n the link below:
(Give special note that your fleet doesn’t need to be all Fords to be eligible for Labor reimbursement.)
A company that purchases or leases vehicles for use in conducting their day-to-day business.

If you are a repair shop that purchases Ford parts its even easier to get paid if a ford part fails. You would want to have a wholesale account setup with your local dealer, ideally… Just as with a fleet part purchase, the 2 year warranty starts with either the date on the original part purchase invoice OR the date of the repair order when the part was installed…. This is especially important if your like me and you keep Ford oem parts in stock to get your customer fixed faster… Below is further information on this directly from Fords internal Warranty and policy manual that, if your local dealer doesn’t know what to do, you can provide them with..
— Labor reimbursed will be calculated based on the standard hours listed in the Ford Service Labor Time Standards Manual multiplied by the Dealer’s (from which the component was purchased) approved warranty labor rate in effect on the date of repair, or the over-the-counter customer’s actual labor amount, whichever is less. (This amount is a max of $75.00 per labor hour if the repair is done by anyone besides a Ford dealer)
— Parts and labor reimbursement requests must be supported by diagnostic labor and test results clearly documented on the installer’s repair order.
— All parts must be returned to the selling dealer or distributor
— Parts and labor to repair any related damage caused by the defective part. If repair of the failed component and related damage is not performed by the dealer or the dealer authorized installer, the outside repair source must, in the dealer’s judgment, be capable of professional workmanship. The original copy of the outside shop repair order showing the original installation of the affected Ford service part must be retained by the dealer.
— Dealers that perform the repair in their dealerships may claim labor (Ford Labor Time Standards at their approved Labor Rate) for the part which was originally installed by Fleet, Repair Shop Installer or Wholesaler only.
Sold Over-the-counter: — To a retail purchaser: The date of sale. — To a fleet, general installer or wholesaler: The date the part or accessory is installed (could be later than the date of sale).
