I guess it could be done but it will probably cost quite a bit of $$$.
On a power lift gate, aside from the lift-gate linear actuator, there is an Rear Gate Trunk Module (RGTM) located inside the gate; the overall operation is controlled by the Body Control Module (BCM), there are left and right anti pinch sensors located both on the sides of the gate itself and inside the left and right body trim panels along with all of the associated switches, wiring harnesses and reprogramming.
Anything can be done if you throw enough money at it.

This is my mother's car and will be her last one. She likes it a lot and is in great shape with decent mileage on it. Not wanting to trade nor go into another payment plan for her.
She has mentioned that having the power liftgate would be nice. So, it's an idea for the moment.

Maybe start by replacing the gas lift supports for the rear and see if that makes it light enough for her to relatively easily operate manually. Trying to add that feature after-the-fact and possibly not getting some safety measures implemented correctly could cause her more pain and suffering than a properly functioning refreshed manual liftgate.
