My bumper was looking a little crummy, so I embarked on a mission to paint it.
I have not done much, if any, painting, I am an amateur and did it in a farm shop, so no fancy setups here.
Certainly was a bit rough. The Warn M8000 came with my truck. The corner was already busted, and it only had one bent, ground down, steel tie rod. Came with the bumper, of course. This is what I could put together to hang the parts on, was a bit rickshaw, but it held.
A little resto work on the winch.
-New tie rods
-Cleaned gears and packed with fresh grease
-Painted outside of drum supports (replaced motor drum support)
-Painted drum
-New seal on transmission
-Cleaned up inside of motor. These studs were way too soft, I've since drilled them out. That dust came from those bolts. This is my old cable, not in terrible shape, the hook is a bit sketchy. I'll be keeping this cable as a spare. Bumper is mounted with 4 grade 8 bolts. Brand new bolts all around. So. Many. Bolts.
You are looking at $100 in bolts. Ouch. Here she is, all bolted up.
Perfection was an unrealistic goal, however I'm real happy with how it turned out. I may have to do a little paint touch up, but at least it's not rusting off anymore.
