I just want to say that if I could get another 86 Ranger with a 4cyl brand new, I would be a happy camper. I love that little thing, carb and all. 240,000 kms it has given me. I will one day get it back on the road for myself and my son to drive, maybe grandson too.
It is a little work horse, like a Morgan!
Keep eyes open as you can get lucky once in a while. I picked up a '91 w/ 50k original miles this summer. Needed a timing belt and fuel pump.flushed the fuel system out from pressure regulator. Added a battery and it fired right up. It had been abandoned by a little widower and I gave him $500. I'm out new tires, reman front calipers and new brake hoses. I'm still under a grand. Rear sliding glass is mucked but I have a cheap fix for that.
That's cool generalee.
It pays to have the gift of fix. All of my vehicles are old fixers. I love em. It's good to have old vehicle friends too. I'm busy trying to get all the parts I have been buying over the years into the vehicles they are intended for. My Harley gets attention this winter.
The Ranger has shocks, brakes, floor boards, and a windshield to do, and thats just the beginning. Life will draw to an end before I am done. Nothing is show floor condition but I like driving them.
My little sister bought a 1986 new and drove it for a few years and then my late father got it and drove it some. I got it and drove it for over 20 years. It had the 2,3 fuel injected engine and it had over 350,000 miles on it and still ran great. Last fall I pulled it out and put in a 347 stroker in it. Repainted it and redone the interior.I too love this little truck

That should be a small incremental increase in power.......

I don't remember the 347. Must reference the wizard of goog...but in size alone, imagine the difference.
I get it now. The 347 is a 400 hp stroker kit for 289 or 302 motors. Sounds like domination. What kind of tranny did you go with; did you change the rear end or do you go through alot of tires? Wow. That takes alot of focus and money both of which I haven't dominated in yet.
Good job 1949f1!

welcome to , i think we all hear you on what has treated us good for a long time and wanting a brand new on of them, did you write HARLEY, sadly i recently sold my 61 FLH police special i had since 1970,
I thought you were going to say high performance standard.
My number retention isn't good. How does 8.8 and 4.10 equate to pickup/cruise, off the line/top speed?

good luck in FTE
61 FLH PS is a classic. I love stripped deckers. Panheads are pretty. Mine is a 76 FLH stripped. Shovelheads are antiques now. It's an AMFer but they are a piece of history too. It's been apart for decades. I'm going to put it back together, and have a sidecar standing by too.
Life is getting short. I'm just putting stuff back together; no performance, or showfloor. I'm a pretty conservative driver/rider. Speed wears me out, can't relax.
