Source for Snap Ring for the Fuel Pressure Valve
I lost the snap ring for the Fuel Pressure Valve. While removing the snap ring, it dropped of the snap ring pliers. I thought no big deal, I will locate it after I get the fuel pressure valve out.
Well Hells Bells, I can find that dropped snap ring anywhere. Of course you can't get an eye back there to see anything. The only think I'm able to do is take my cell phone and take random pictures at every angle possible. Still, no luck finding that thing.
Here is my problem, I can't find a source for that snap ring anywhere.
The local Ford dealership says that they do not even have a part number for it.
The local parts stores don't have anything.
None of my local auto recycling yards have it.
If I can't find a source through this form, I will probable purchase something from McMaster-Carr.
Does anybody know the actual part number for this part, or even better yet, where I can source it.
Thanks for taking a look at this.
Dan
Not my snap ring, just a photo on the internet
It is almost impossible to find an automotive store that is "Old School". When you have a question, they say "The computer says...". They simply don't have the depth behind the counter offer any alternatives. It seems every time I have to have any calipers turned, I have to show them how to properly us the calipers (or micrometer).
Buying a new Fuel Pressure Rail is an option, but it would be a last resort.
If I could just get a few dimensions from the retainer ring, I can find a non-automotive source.
I could be wrong as I have not looked into this but I can see that being why no one lists parts for it.
Good luck.

If someone could take a picture of this retainer ring alongside a quarter similar to what I have attached for the fuel pressure valve, I could use the quarter to scale the image. For example, a quarter is .955" diameter. With the size of the quarter known and the size of the fuel pressure valve, I can take a picture of those two side by side and the scale that image with my solid modeling software.
From there it is super easy to parametrically model the ring.
From there I can source the retainer ring from a non-automotive source.
I wish I had one around to measure!
You could get a variety pack of these snap rings from Amazon, then probably be covered. I found an amazing variety of kits for under $12.00 .
