This truck is in my hometown it's pretty hammered. Ugly ol white supercab. It runs and drives. Ladder rack and tool boxes in the back. But no dents or accident damage. Tailgate is there but top is all beat up. But does open and shut.
Owner is cool I stopped and talked to him he started it up offered me to take a test drive but I was too busy.
His sign says $5500 I offered $4000 haven't heard back.
It wouldn't be a daily driver for me I want it for my part time side hustle etc stuff like that
If it had been 4x4 with manual lever I would have jumped through some hoops and just got the rest of the money and paid asking.
What do you think
Thanks
Btw I'm in southeast Texas humid as hell but no salt
Pass. Beat up, high miles. Do you think routine maintenance was a concern?
Your side hustle "brand" and reputation be impacted as well. "The beater man.... "
Just as a new contractor should avoid a new truck and new boots ("he's never worked....."), you should avoid the "he's careless and doesn't care..." look.
....
If the "part time side hustle etc stuff like that" doesn't involve much driving and/or a pristine appearance, this might be a good buy. Maybe replace the tailgate sheet metal. It really depends on how much risk you are willing to absorb, how much work you're willing to do to it, how it was treated and maintained, and what the driveline condition is right now. Personally, if it was just for a side hustle and going to sit a lot, I'd be looking for something like this because I wouldn't have a lot of money tied up in something that sits a lot, but it could still work when I need it.
