I'm thinking of parting with the old girl. She seldom gets used any more, I've kept her so I'd have a truck for when I need one and I bought a TDI for a daily, but I am looking at buying an F150 to cover both use scenarios and eliminating one vehicle from our herd. I know there are some here with F150s, any advice?
PS Looked at a 2023 5.0 10 speed this morning with 20,000 miles, nice truck but somehow I thought it would be a lot more nimble and easier to maneuver. It's a bit easier than the F350 but not by a lot. Biggest difference is the turning radius, the ride felt kind of boaty to me.
Nice clean truck. Interesting you got a TDI for a daily...we just bought our youngest daughter a mint 2014 Audi Q5 Prestige TDI, and I love driving it. I'll be doing a tune and delete on it soon too. Now my wife wants one, but I'm not sure I can part with her 2000 Excursion Limited 7.3L just yet. Which TDI did you get?

TDI is a 2015 Golf Sportwagen and it's a blast to drive. The only thing I don't like about it is the seats can get uncomfortable on long drives otherwise I wouldn't consider getting rid of it.
I have thought about selling my 7.3 as well, but I put a flatbed on it and would sorely miss it.
I have another F350, and F150 Raptor (project) and a Tacoma as well. Hard to choose!
A lot of the places here that rent equipment (if you have to do that) will NOT rent if you don't have at minimum 3/4 ton. Doesn't matter what the sticker says it will haul (being the newer F150s increased payload and listed capacities)
We've got a 3.5 Ecoboost in an Expedition, it's a pretty good set up. Runs at low RPMs most of the time, almost like a diesel. Good low end torque. Pretty peppy too. I'd recommend checking it out if you're going f150 route.
If you're thinking about selling it for 5 to 10 thousand, you might want to just hold onto it instead.
My stroker only tows the 5th wheel. 6,000 miles a year, I plan to upgrade it in a few years and sell it, but I probably won’t get much for what I believe is the most reliable truck ever. It turns 25 years old next month.
I have a 2017 F150 with a 5.0 engine that I use every day. Honestly, it's tough climb back into the 01 diesel. The F150 is super comfy to drive. It rides a lot smoother, but it lacks power. Its gutless.
The length of the bed for a 150 makes it a no go for me some people it’s not a big deal just something to consider. Plus when you look at cost of ownership a gas 250 could easily be the same as a 150.

It all depends on what you need to do with a truck and exactly what F-150 you get. I have an '11 SuperCab short bed F-150 with the 5.0 that is my daily driver. I got my '99 long wheelbase F-450 with a 14' flatbed because I wanted something that could pull and haul a lot more than the F-150 could. That it does, but it also has a zero percent chance of fitting in the parking garage at work whereas the F-150 will fit in there. I drive the F-150 to work or if I need to take more than two of the kids with me (the F-450 is a regular cab), otherwise I use the F-450 for anything I'd use a truck for. The 6 1/2' bed on the F-150 just isn't very large, and the sad thing is that it's a longer bed than most of the half-tons have today. My F-150 turns a lot sharper than my F-450 but the F-450 has the original narrow front axle that doesn't turn very sharp and a wheelbase five feet longer than the F-150.
I've decided on a Ranger with a 2.7. I can deal with the 5 foot bed as I rarely need a full size bed any more and if I ever do I have a trailer. Having a lot of trouble finding a Ranger with everything I want and nothing I don't want so will probably order one.

Right there with you. Old Green maybe gets 2k miles a year these days. Got a Toyota Camry that gives 34 mpg so am in that almost all the time now. Keep Old Green around for those times you need a truck and always love driving it. But, it seems like such a waste now.
Have been offered 12k more than once, but cannot bring myself to part with it. An F-150 would be ok, but have said Old Green will be around until the doors fall off.

Just went through something very similar a month ago, except we downsized by selling the truck to share a single vehicle between myself and my wife. Since I'm working from home now, it seems to be working very well. I did the experiment for over a year and was averaging only 60-70 miles per month, and sometimes going nearly two months between uses. For us, if I need a truck several times a year, either Lowe's, Home Depot, or Uhaul has what I need.
BTW, just as a reference point for you, if you do decide to sell... I got north of $11k for my truck (352K miles, 2wd, but in virtually pristine condition).

I'm hoping for at least $17K. Right now a friend is begging to buy it.
