seems march did a 2 step coming in, warm to cold with a nasty cold wind, that spoked one of the dogs bigtime , she's the one rescue we fostered that never found a home save with us, due to how she was with strange people , she's been with us for 10 years of her 10 1/2, sweet with us all that counts

Went to the car wash with the truck on Saturday. Cleaned off the salt and road grime. Mud back on it by the end of the day. Then today ice cold and windy....

Also waiting to find out what is going on with my wife's car. She broke down on the 80 a couple of weeks back on a Friday (I think 2/14). We own a 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. She had the car towed to the repair center we use for the vehicle. (Interesting back story there.) By the time the car made it to the mechanics, they were closing up for the week. They gave her a ride home. Then looked at it on Monday (2/17). The tech went over to the vehicle. The vehicle started up no problem. Tech pulled it in. Scanned it no issues. The service advisor asked to hang on to the vehicle for another day and if they could take it on a long road test. We said no problem. It broke down again on them! (Wednesday 2/19) So they got the vehicle towed to the shop. Scanned it and found there was some kind of failure of a Hybrid power control module. The last time this happened there was a plug failure. They went to check the plug. It was perfectly fine. The service advisor for our mechanic contacted Hyundai since in thier (mechanic's system) stated there should be lifetime warranty coverage for the original owner. Hyundai said yes there is coverage however it needs to be brought in for their diagnostics. They got the vehicle down to the local dealer. The dealer contacts my wife letting her know the vehicle is there. They said it was going to take a couple of days to get the vehicle in since their hybrid techs were backed up. My wife agreed. Last week on Tuesday or Wednesday they finally get a chance to look at the car. It will not start at all. All the service advisor would tell my wife is the engine is seized. They are "working with Hyundai" on getting a replacement engine. Since I was out of town, I finally play catch up with my wife on Friday. She goes I don't want you to get mad but there are issues with vehicle and I am working on. This is while I am at the airport on a layover. I am like what? So I call the mechanic. They said the engine was not seized but the vehicle was showing the Hybrid issue like it came in for. It started up just fine and there were no issues of drivability until we got the same system fault your wife experienced. The service advisor said let us know if there is anything they could do and if needed they will get the owner involved. The owner knows me by sight since I knew his father who use to run a Cornwell tool truck in the area. Anyway, My wife reaches out to the dealer's service department for an update. She can't get through because their phones went down. I want to know if the engine and this power control module are all part of the same issue. But I can't get an answer.. The wife said she would call on Monday and try to get more details about the vehicle. I said I would not be surprised their sales department doesn't call and say why don't you trade this in.

I don't want another car payment since everything is paid off. We have some home improvement plans in the works. Right now I want to see how this is going to happen. If we have to get another vehicle, I would like to see another Honda in the driveway. I have been thrilled with my ownership experience so far with my CRV. My wife would do well with the Accord.

As for the mechanic's backstory. The current location of the business is where I use to work 20 years ago. I worked for a construction equipment dealership. We moved into the building. Our mechanics use to do business with the owner's father. He ran a tool truck and they guys were really loyal to him. His dad unfortunately had a few health issues about 15 years ago sidelining his business. However his son was a mechanic. I talk with the son every so often over the last 6 or 7 years. Another side note to the owner, SSD knew him and was family friend IIRC. When I worked for my last employer, we used this shop exclusively for all the owner's vehicles as well as the company vehicles. Usually this shop did a great job on the vehicle service. I never had an issue with any of my vehicles through the shop either. However I always find it a little strange pulling in to drop off or pick up the vehicles.

The AC boat show did not disappoint but what I like is way out of my league.
Hope all had a great weekend!

We bought the car from the hyundai dealership there in 2017. Then in 2020, they went out of business because the ownership group got popped for financial fraud and some other BS. Towne in Denville is now the new dealer in Hackettstown. They knocked down the old diner that was aused car lot under route 46/ htown Hyundai. That is going to be a service center. The old dealer building has been remodeled to bring it up to Hyundai appearance standards. The last time i pasted it, there were vehicles on the lot. That building was a ton of different places. I remember in the 90s it was a hardware store. That closed and I think an electrical supplier went in. Then a contractor when that supplyhouse closed down in late 2000's. I think it became a dealership around 2014.

Going back to Towne, I cannot believe they used Hackettstown Hyundai name. Route46/H Town both had middle of the road reputations. I think more on the bad side than good. Towne seems OK. I know people who bought vehicles from them and had a very good experience. Their service department is standard dealership experience. Nothing to write home about. Also interesting thing about Towne they are owned by the same family. When the dad died, the brother got the dealerships around Morristown. The Toyota and Subby. The sister got the Hyundai and toyota dealer in Denville and Ledgewood. I know someone who works or now worked for them. He worked for Dad in Morristown. Then the son. He knows the daughter. He knows a bunch of the people at the Ledgewood location and thought about transferring there at one point. Charlie, I didn't know if you knew that or not.

Speaking of the wife's car, I might add the Camry on to the list. Those are now Hybrid only.
