Not a fan of manuals. I could drive them after a while but didn't care for the stopping aspect especially on the hills of Sussex county. My father wanted to show how to operate one but his patience factor was another thing. Lead to a couple of bad experiences to say the least one almost ending in a fistfight. . However, he wanted to show my daughter how to drive one when she got old enough for her license. My daughter loved being in the truck with him and she would shift the gears when she was younger. Unfortunately, that is no longer an option. Dad hasn't been with us for over 2 years and the truck was finally sold this year. I didn't have a place or the space to take the truck to restore it. On top of that, I would not be able to teach her how to drive stick. 18 speed Manual makes my head go huh. Meanwhile you truckers are laughing all the way top the bank.
Happy New Years!

2026 Shelby F-150 Off-Road: Better Than a Raptor R?
when many of us learned there was few automatics to learn on, real world it's easy peasy , semis with 9,10.speed road rangers are super easy low range 5, high range back into the second spot repeat till 9 or 10 if a 13 or 18 pull the high range button shift back into second than split the gears with the od button ,simple back and forth, hi-lo , now a twin stick that takes a little learning ,
teaching daughters THAT can be a lot of fun, with mine we used a VW beetle , she shocked the tester in lodi, guy was watching her shift it, she let the clutch up and never touched it till she had to go back into first after a stop .. learning in sussex county yep that can be fun esp around the vernon area
yup. clutch was for taking off from a stop or on a hill only. i only got my knee whacked one time to remember no clutch to shift!
boss was riding with me one time in the low boy and saw me at a light rev the engine, then when it came down to around 300rpm slip it in low low and start shifting. he looked at me a three year old and said wow, i never say anyone do that before.
i said i am lazy, and my knee hurts. screw that clutch.
after yesterday taking the model a to a cars and coffee my left knee is also ahurting tom, crazy how a stinking 9 inch clutch has that much pressure in it, than maybe i need to stop being scared about getting the new left knee and being forced to drive 50 miles each way from newton to morristown by the doctors to have it done, when newton memorial is 7 miles and 12 mins away , seems atlantic heath is why, they made the orthros here work out of there that means 3 round trips down 15 to 80 to 287, and that driving those roads alone one takes ones life in ones hands
and yesterday turned out to be a DAH day, don't be low on gas in a T or a A and try driving up a steep hill with a bank, you will run out of gas when it slushes to the left side of the tank ,
been there and done that, except in a Mack.
climbing the Edison bridge trying to make the fuel station in the circle at the bottom of the bridge. so low on fuel the pickup in the twin 120 gallon tanks sucked air almost at the top and ran the engine dry. luckily i had enough speed to get over the top, and left it in gear to pull fuel from the now submerged pickups.
i ended up putting 236 gallons in the tanks.
