Overheating Transit 2018
I have a small fleet of 3.5t Ford Transit tippers.
We are getting issues now with the temperature gauge going from normal midrange to the top of the scale and showing max temperature and in the red.
The van goes into limp mode.
Pull over and turn it off, give it 2 minutes and turn it back on and its right back to mid range temperature and it drives fine until the next time it does it... can be 8-10 times a day.
changed the water pump, the belts, the thermostat housing, the engine temperature sender at the back of the engine block.
Tried disconnecting in turn the top and bottom sensors from the thermostat housing.
Pressure tested the system and no leaks.
Spoke to Ford over here in the UK who tell me it must be because the engine is under a high strain...not at all the van can be empty with just the driver in the cab and cruising at 65mph and it will still happen. Happens empty at 30mph or in traffic at 5mph.
They have put it on a rolling road and can't duplicate the problem.
So question is anyone else come across the same issue, overheating alert when there is no overheating taking place and fixes itself in less that 3 minutes?
Thanks
Kevin
