Waiting on my 11K oil analysis. Will be interesting to see the difference from the last sample at 6400 miles. This is based ON the IOLM. I changed it when it said to.
IMHO flashpoint seems low for "trace" amounts of fuel. Otherwise looks good.
Rotella T6 tends to have low flash point to start with. I did happen to notice I posted my FIRST oil sample, not the last one to go with the one I am waiting for. I will need to put them together when I get the latest one back.
acdii, Here is my oil sample for comparison This one show analysis at 13,244 and 21,483 miles
Thats a good UOA. Noticed both of your OCI are at ~8,200 miles. Is that the oil change minder telling you to change the oil at 8,200 or are you changing it early since Ford now suggests these trucks can going 15k OCI in some scenarios.
Got mine back for the F-450 with 11,309 miles on the oil. It said try for 13,000 OCI. Viscosity from the first sample was 63.6 and this one showed 66.7, and 11.22 to 12.07, so viscosity went up. All readings were better than average as well, so now I know, let the iOLM tell me when it is due for an oil change since it seems to know pretty well. This is for Rotella T6.
My Flex OTOH I will do 5K oil changes instead of 7K. Either that or use a different oil. Iron and aluminum were higher, though better than average. Unit average on Iron is 17, universal average is 19. Viscosity was lower than expected for 5W30 so that also clues me in to try a different oil. Last 2 changes have been Pennzoil Platinum, think I will switch to Mobil 1.
