Question Regarding the last years of the 302 6 bolt bell housing
I have recently been looking at the the possibility of hooking. A 1990-99 ERA 302 to an NP435 transmission. This started me on a rabbit hole of diffrent ford bell-housings and what years and engines each bell housing would fit. From what I gathered ford switched from the 5 bolt pattern to the 6 bolt pattern in 1965 and this stayed the same in the sbf ford family, not including the 351m and 400, up until 1994. What I dont understand is why 1994 was the cutoff? As far as I am aware (I could be mistaken) the modular engines and their corresponding transmissions where not put into the f series trucks until 1997. So my question is what transmission pattern was being used from 1994-1997 as I have failed to locate a ford website or forum that is able to anserw this question. Thanks for any info. The link I posted at the bottom is a site that lists a bunch of dates and when certain bell housings where used including the sbf six bolt pattern up until 1994.
