Type F for power steering
Type F is getting hard to find. The power steering in my 79 calls for type F.
How picky is the PS system? Could mercon or mercon v be used without harm?

You can just use power steering fluid. I recently ran out of type F, and got some PSF from O'reilly's, and it worked fine. I noticed that it has friction modifier in it, like for clutch type limited slip differentials, that regular ATF do not have.
