I have the instructions that came with the new Delphi pump which looks like the old one.
The first line makes no sense. I know the lever location and position is important but the line says.." Before removing old fuel pump, note whether fuel section is"up" or "down" position."
What the h#!! Does that mean?
Here is a copy of the instructions for anyone who might need them..
O k so.. I just installed the new one with common sense and it is fine. I didn't find out what could be up or down before removing the old one. Truck runs quiet and smooth. Once warmed up, there is a slight gurgle that I need to find. I took the valve covers off and it is not from there. I'll get a scope so I can tell where. It sure runs better without the crud in the carb and with a new fuel pump.
