Starting down my 'diesels for dummies' path... Shortly to be a new 6.7 owner, truck was built a few days ago, hopefully be here in a couple of weeks. Will be towing a 14K GVWR 28 foot enclosed trailer with either a mustang or F150 inside to car shows as it's main duty but also my 'daily' driver, at least as much as someone retired "daily" drives....
Looking at the Banks iDash or the Edge CTS3 monitors. Any real reason to go with one over the other? It looks to my unknowing eye that the edge shows more data at a time than the banks does or maybe my old eyes just prefer looking at something shaped like a GPS instead of like an add-on gauge.
Sure, the Edge will show more PIDs on the screen at one time, but the iDash has the ability to set up more than one screen with different PIDs and has a bigger PID list than the Edge. You just have to decide if the bigger display with less PID choices is better for you than the iDash on a smaller display with more PID choices on multiple screens, as well as the option to run multiple iDash units. I run two.
I too am new to the iDash, like you I was looking for the right choice and in one afternoon I got schooled from the fine crew here on which way to go. In my opinion the iDash has so much to offer the user...plus you can add on other Banks accessories to it. I too will say go for the Banks unit.
+1 on the iDash, and you can add a Second one if you want more than 8 at a time. It integrates with the Pedal Monster, and for trucks that it works on, the Derringer. Both are controlled via the iDash.
Has Torque Pro and an old Android phone gone the way of the dinosaur? I rarely see mention of Torque Pro anymore. If I remember correctly, Torque Pro is like $5 and a Bluetooth OBD2 adapter can be had for under $20. Add an old Android phone you have a very inexpensive PID monitor.
