I am parting with my 1986 f350 dump truck
She has been a great truck but I am just not using it enough on the farm to make it worth keeping it any longer.
It has a 12 foot rack body with barn style doors on the back. (will hold and dump close to 10 yards of wood chips no problem)
56000 original miles 460 big block it is in excellent condition the frame and body have no rust. (some surface rust on rack body nothing major)
Everything works except the radio
I have no idea what I should ask for it.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I would say that if you are the original owner it's still worth what you paid for it plus maybe 10 or 20 percent more for inflation. Truck looks good, low miles.
Compare with some other dumpers listed in equipment trader mags.
Looked a bit online could not find anything that really matched what I have.
I am not the original owner bought the truck in 2011.
That truck new was probably around 12-14k back in 1986
Don't think I could get near that price now.
I was thinking around 8k-9k maybe.
What do you think ?

I think you can get your price, probably more and I was thinking 15 maximum. It's worth what somebody will pay for it, of course. I'd advertuse it for $14,999 and say make offers? Somebody says 10k you have a deal.
put the price at what you want, the market will decide if it's fair. If not than lower it till it sells.
pretty darn simple. pretty sure kids even understand the concept

I agree with your post, except set the price above what you want for it. Then you have some bargaining room. The market for a truck like that is going to be smaller than say for an F series pickup. It's going to be someone that needs a work truck most likely. So search for comparables in all the magazines and online sources that cater to heavy equipment. Then set your price.
I'm with the other guy I'd go $50,000 and go down from there but it's worth whatever you think it's worth that's the price. So I'd say $50,000 to start after all it's vintage F-350 bullnose collector's item dump excellent condition it's unique and not another one just like it worth $50,000 to a collector you might just get it too. Matter of fact if I had Jay Leno's money I'd throw mine away and buy that truck.
Thanks for the input guys
I will throw it out there at a premium price and see what happens.
Like you say I can always drop the price if it does not sell
Would be a great truck for the right person especially if there into vintage trucks
That truck is special for sure. A collector may well buy it. It has every option you've seen on a bullnose and then some. Well no radio but that can be fixed easy. Where is the fuel tank?
It is under the dump body
if you look at the close up photo with the bed raised you can see the filler neck just aft of the hydraulic tank.
I think someone changed the bed to the rack body or it was a rack body and they made it a dump rack body
I see the filler now, and when the bed is down the square hole gives access. That's a custom tank hiding behind the frame rail. How many gallons does it hold?
