Buying new radiator and might switch to auto transmission in future. Does the non auto transmission, non air conditioning radiator have the same mounting pattern as the automatic cooler radiator?
Same mounting. Sometimes if you have a manual transmission now, the will sell you one for a automatic, that is all they keep in stock with some models of cars and trucks. See rockauto still has both types though.
It should as the only difference between auto & non-auto even if they make anon-auto, is the auto cooler built into the radiator.
With that said as far as I know radiators come in 3 different types or sizes.
For the gas there are 2 sizes / types: AC and non-AC
The AC one is larger in size and has more core passes. Because it is larger the radiator support also has a larger opening.
Then you have a diesel radiator that fits its own radiator support.
If they list auto and non-auto for a radiator and you plan to go with a auto transmission then get a radiator with the auto cooler as it will not hurt to have it and not use it.
All you do is put plugs in the ports for the auto cooler so dirt dose not get into it before you need to use it.
They say if you want to run a AC radiator on a non-AC support you can cut the opening larger and move the lower and upper mounts as needed but I have not done this so check before you go for it.
