Hello All! I'm new to posting here but I've been a researching here for quite a while.
I have a '77 F150 with a 351m and a 2150 carb. I bought the truck back in October. I'm just now getting around to rebuilding the carb, as I had a blown power valve and accelerator pump. I got the carb finished, but noticed the previous owner had zip-tied two parts of the throttle together (its not the original 2150, its a United reman that I believe was put on in 2019. I'm pretty new to working on carbs and this truck, FYI.
Below are a couple of photos, and I also uploaded a quick video. Anyway, wanted to see if there's a more correct way of doing this, or if this is just the wrong carb for the truck and the owner was just making it work. Thanks for your input.
What we see here is a cheap/tacky PO hack: the throttle arm & A/Trans kick-down levers are now very crudely combined.
Are you now running a manual trans? If not, does it stall upon sudden deceleration (when the right foot is quickly taken-off the gas pedal)?
