I found these but they are for air cleaners. I don't know if they are the same thread size.
I'd prefer these but nore sure about fit.
Anyone know what the valve cover stud thread size is for y block? Specifically 292 but I imagine they are all the same. I posted this in another forum by mistake.
I was just watching "The Notorious Landlady". And old movie, set in London. The bathtub faucet handles were a design match for the second wingnut pictured above.
I then looked up 3d printed bolts and nuts. I'm really tempted to take a local class offered on 3d printing. They provide everything and printing items is free. Maybe designing and printing custom wingnuts would be the way to go.
So how did they turn out to fit? Did you use washers under them?
I did not add a washer on top of the OEM grommet/washer, just tightened the wing nuts down by hand. Although, now that you mention it, I might look for some thin stainless washers to give the wing nuts a cleaner look. What do you think?
I think the color match of the wingnut and valve cover is great! I'd leave it without another washer. The black goes well with it as is. It's your motor.

I did look at stainless washers at McMaster-Carr but didn't find any that were 1" OD for 5/16 thread. They jump from 3/4 to 1-1/4 OD. That was enough looking for me. As you said I'll "leave it without another washer." However, if I had a little lathe, I could make a nice grommet cover and paint it to match the valve covers. Thanks, Lester
McMaster have 8mm Stainless washers with 24mm od. 5/16 and 8mm is nearly the exact same diameter so those would work.
Thank you Charlie, for your input. That's two times you have been of help to me and everyone that read's this post in the future. My hat's off to you sir. I can get 10 of the 8mm x 24mm washers for 8.10. With taxes and shipping that is 18.00. I'm going to look at the local hardware store to see if they have anything that may work before pulling the trigger on these. Thanks again, Lester
