Advice Needed on Private Sell (Bronco Raptor Related)
I know this is not super duty related but this forum has always been super helpful and has significantly more activity than the Bronco section. I would really appreciate any advice but I understand if this gets moved/deleted by the mods.
So here is my challenge.
After a long wait for a Bronco First Edition my order was cancelled and rebooked as a Bronco Raptor. It is an amazing vehicle but during our multi-year wait we had another kid (3 total now) and the Bronco really isn't the best choice for our needs so I have decided to sell it and move into something more ideal (Expedition/etc). The challenge I am facing is the crazy market for these things and how to proceed. I would assume the best course of action is to sell privately but I have never gone this route for anything beyond motorcycles. I am sure there are a few dealers that would offer strong trade-in values but that will probably be rare.
So my question is, how would go about listing and establishing a fair price? The secondary market seems to almost be around $100k regardless of mileage.
What would you all do?
Again, I really appreciate anyone's thoughts and opinions.
I would keep it, but if I had to sell it I would consider Bring a Trailer auction.
You could probably get a Ford dealer to buy it from you without trading.
I love that color. They don't offer it on the Ranger Raptor so I had to go with carbonized gray
Go on KBB and get the value of your vehicle. At the end of the process, there will be an option to get an offer. I did it on my 22 F-350, and got an offer from a local Ford dealer. (Not the one I bought it or the 2023 450 from.) They made an offer, and I got them to go $1000 higher. Said "Let me ask the wife when she gets home tonight, I'll be back at noon tomorrow.) Next day traded it in to my actual Ford dealer, got them to match the offer. It was $3k higher than they initially offered me. I was willing to drive it across town for the extra $3k.
Also, consider listing it on CarGurus.com, and see what kind of offers it brings. Patience is your friend, give it time, someone will pay high dollar for it.
Thank you, everyone, for the thoughts and advice. I have received some offers from dealers around the $90k mark. I may hit the easy button on the trade, but I will look into BAT and other suggestions made on this thread.
I should set off the alarm just for the hell of it... LoL
Yup I think this is starting to happen with all vehicles now. When your interest rates are in the 6-10% range and folks financing all or most, that payment gets up there pretty quick. Also it seems that vehicles are being pumped at a faster rate too. Although a Bronco Raptor may be the exception to how quickly they are built since I believe its a limited run but there is a limited audience that can afford, or wants to pay that much for a vehicle right now. The Bronco Raptor isn't for me, I'd personally opt for a base Bronco and take the $50-60k difference and make it 100% like I want.
Wait until a Mecum Auction comes close to you and run it through there. People tend to pay stupid prices for some of the vehicles that cross that stage. Broncos are one of those that tend to get top dollar.

My story.
Growing up, I had four of these as a teenager. I loved the original Bronco. When Ford announced they were coming back with it I placed reservations. Once they came out with them I was somewhat disappointed and never actually placed the order. Then I became the golden ticket holder, this particular dealer I had to order through because I had a reservation with them. Ordered the vehicle in my name without my permission. They had been begging me to order before deadline and I declined.
I had found out accidentally, they actually placed the order in my name. They admitted they were going to put a 30 to 50,000 mark upon it, I had to get Ford corp involved, got it for sticker. I did it only for spite. This was my third Raptor style vehicle since 2020.
I cannot knock the vehicle itself, it was an excellent vehicle in itself. My other half loved it and was very upset with me getting rid of it. She's now driving a Platinum Tremor. I never really care for it.
For me personally after owning 16 super duties, and two Raptors, the interior was too small and cramped.
If you can find the expedition you want, I'd probably work with the dealership, especially if you can walk away without taking a loss. The used market has clearly flipped with rates. Both Ford dealerships in my area have a ton of inventory, but very few Bronco's. Thats a good looking rig man, I'm sure you'll be able to keep the loss to a min. Oh don't forget you will save a ton in taxes on the new expedition if you trade the bronco in. My wifes 2022 Expedition Max Limited was $86K.
