Ok folks; long story short I threw a rod last summer in my 78' F250 with a 400. I only had it a few months and did most the top end among other things. The real bummer was it was running so incredibly good too. A few days ago I paid $350 for a complete 1977 400. This was before I began to read about the block cracking problems. The 400 I want to build will have some tasteful mods. Thus the cracking prone early blocks are not going to be a candidate.
