1989 F250 - Low Fuel Pressure
I've recently picked up a 1989 F250 (XLT 4WD 460 automatic) that was parked for a number of years from a guy that handled selling for the estate. He flushed the front fuel tank and replaced the in tank pump assembly. He also replaced the high pressure pump. The truck will run well enough, but it takes forever to get it enough fuel to start.
I've tested both pumps function via the diagnostic port, but I read no pressure at the rail. Fuel is flowing freely into the rail, and it flows out of the regulator. I replaced the regulator first thinking that was the issue.
I can't think of what could cause this low pressure issue other than the dual tank valving maybe? The regulator is more of a flow regulator, so maybe the flow is too low?
Thanks in advance for your help. I've tried searching via the forum, and I'll keep looking in the mean time.
The pressure gauge wasn't tight.. thus the weird reading.
Everything seems to be working correctly. If I had just tried starting the truck after installing the regulator, I bet I'd have been fine.
