Good evening to all! I am somewhat sad by this post, but it appears the time has come for me to leave the 7.3 herd. I have been given a 2005 F250 with a 6.0, so I won't be going far, just a forum over!
Being a part of this community has been a very great experience the last couple of years. The guys on here have definitely made owning the old rig much easier and more enjoyable. I know I am going to miss the 7.3 when it goes, but sometimes we have to consider more than emotion when making decisions. By selling it, I can pay it off and get the 6.0 fixed up and on the road, and have a newer, slightly nicer, pickup with no payments. It is kind of bittersweet, as the 7.3 is the only pickup that has ever pulled our fifth wheel (bought them as a pair from a family member), but I am sure it will do just fine behind the new pickup!
So just a thank you to all of the 7.3 faithful for the patience and dispatching of much wisdom!
Dang, I get the financial aspect and all, but I'm not sure I could make that decision. What about flipping the plan and that 6.no? Then use that $$ to pay off the note and, maybe give the 7.3 a little love. Buy her something pretty.
Part of the plan involves needing the money from the sale to get the 05 in shape. There are many things that go into the choice...one of which is the fact that my 7.3 originally hailed from the north, and there are going to be bills to pay for that in the not so distant future. Long term viability is a big part of the equation. Also a decision point is fuel economy potential, which the 6.0 wins handily. I live out in the boonies, and literally every time I leave my house it is a 45-60 mile round trip. 1-2 MPG adds up quick when driving that much! The 6.0 is already torn down, so I will be putting it back together and making necessary upgrades as I go to hopefully ensure a long life ahead of it!
I get the mileage factor here as well. I live an hour outside of Tucson and my vehicles now get 100% highway miles on them Worn out a set of tires on my VW TDI in less than three years already!
